- Onboarding – Moved the Free Tier to serverless and changed packaging structure, lifting 30-day upgrade conversion +100% and free-user retention +27%. Backed this with console A/B tests, lifecycle emails, and example-driven docs that pushed Create Index success +25% and first-week activation +35%.
- Monetization – Repackaged pricing into a three-part tariff structure (platform fee with included usage), created a self-serve Enterprise tier, and unbundled support options — increasing self-serve ARR by 25% (+$x million).
- Expansion & Retention – Launched Inference (managed embedding models & rerankers) and drove adoption, now accounting for 12% of expansion ARR.
- User Experience – Decreased time to task in the Console by 10% to 30% with a redesigned IA, deep links, embedded docs, realtime usage dashboards, and a native support flow. For fun, added Dark Mode.
- Core Product – Unlocked mid-market growth by shipping scoped API Keys, service accounts, user RBAC, S3 / GCS / Azure storage integrations, audit logs, Admin API's,and backups.

- Architected lead nurture and product activation flows to reduce time to first API call (-11%).
- Defined and automated lead scoring, led efforts to segment sandbox users by persona and intent level, and collaborated with the Data org to create down-funnel reporting.
- Managed the company's first efforts in paid customer acquisition through Google SEM, LinkedIn advertising, and various sponsorships, growing lead production by +33% QoQ.

- Built a collaborative apartment search service for college students. Helped place 100s of students into apartments.
- Surveyed 155 students/agents, constructed user personas, prioritized pain points, and wrote mediocre code to iterate on MVPs.
- Acquired partly due to the product, mostly due to our CRM, by Elegran - a NYC real estate brokerage firm.
About Me
I'm Tej Chilukuri, a product manager who likes building products that help engineers build better products. At Pinecone, I've rebuilt our docs and onboarding flows, shipped a new free tier that boosted retention, and overhauled pricing and packaging to give customers more value and enable us to properly monetize it. Aside from Growth, I also manage our Inference offering, Console, API/SDKs, and Billing Infra. Outside of work, I'm usually watching the Knicks lose, playing golf, (re)watching Succession, or messing around with the latest hyped AI tool.
